WARSHIP ‘AUSTRALIA.’’ NEW YORK, August 26. Boston extended a rousing welcome to tho cruiser Australia to-day, after the ship, somewhat -delayed by fog. en'tered the harbour. The Statei and city officials, and a great crowd of citizens greeted Admiral Hyde aud his crew at the Navy Yard. The. Southery returned the Australia’s salute. The ship was speedily docked, whereafter the Acting British Consul, wnereaftcr thel Acting British Consul, various Army and Navy officers, boarded and met Admiral Hyde, while military bands played and the ships saluted. Acting-Governor Allen received Admiral Hyd e and paid a tribute to the Australian courtesy when she received the US e A. Fleet in 1925 The “Boston Post” said, editorally; “Australia is a notable example oi Kipling’s “Daughter am I in my mother’s house, but mistress in my own.” We'can learn how strong is the bond of common language and common thought. ’ ’

ADMIRAL’S APPARENT UN Uli’FERENCE. (Received August 27, at 8 p m.) * NEW YORK, August *26. A message from Boston states that thousands of men, women and children o-day visited the cruiser Australia. The officers attended the Trinity Church in thq morning and lunched at the Brookline Country Club. Admiral Hyde and his staff went to Loverly Farm as guests as the British Summer Embassy. They will be received at linner tonight by Rear- Admira? Andrews. Admiral Hyde ommitted the scheduled visit to the Mayors office. Mayor Nichols was absent, and asked acting Mayor Green to extend hospitality of the City to the. visitors in his stead. A xepresentative of Admiral Hyde enswored Mr Green'4 question of the Australian ikdmirals apparent indifference, by stating that the Australia .had been so delayed by fog that Admiral Hyde was unable to follow 'the expected programme.
