ATTEMPTED SUICIDE

YOUNG MAN REMANDED. FOR MEDICAL EXAMINATION. Cecil Alison Owen Jones was yesterday, before Magistrate Aleldrum, charged with attempted suicide. SeniorSergeant Roach, who conducted the prosecution on behalf of the police, stated that Jones had been a resident of Greymouth for the past twelve months. His people resided at Palmerston North. He was evidently under some financial stress. He had been Working at Dobson mine and mot with an accident. Tn the hospital he seemed to be subject to fits. He was living with his cousin in Cobden and on April 9 had said to her that “he was -going to end it all.” His cousin had found him on Cobden Bridge and had stopped him from jumping over.
