(From Our Own Correspondent.) ROSS April 11. While at work in the- bush recently Air F. Campbell sustained a nasty wound in the foot, caused through his axe slipping. He was conveyed to the Westland. Hospital where he is progres ing favourably. A Lucre and dance in aid of the Convent school wa held at which, prizes were won by Airs Parker, Mrs Hillier, Mrs Phalent, and Airs A. Price, while the booby prizes went to Airs Hedwig and Mrs D. Head. Miss Evens’ Orchestra, supplied the music. The “lucky spot” Waltz was won by Aliss Lloyd and Mr Forbes both of ChCh.. The ‘‘lucky spot” One Step was won by Mrs Parks and Air AV. - Black-

All tennis fixtures set down for Easter Saturday had to ge postponed owing to the bad weather, and so Ilari Hari wore not defeated. Very heavy rain was experienced here on Good Friday and faster Saturday and it has continu* '• since. A party of cyclists, on roiib xrom Ch-Ch. to the Glacier, on reaching Ross were wet to the skin and when last heard of their belief, was that it is always raining on the West Coast. “Slow Alotion” would like, to know why the train for Ross the other Thursday night was delayed until 9.30 p.m. af Hokitika, 11 p.m. being the time when the passengers arrived home. Mesdames C. Parker and O. Hahn, who spent a holiday in Ch Ch., have returned home. Mr T. AlcLean is visiting Greymouth where lie is spending his Easter holidays. Air and Mrs Chesterman of Hokitika have been on a holiday here as the guests of Air and Airs K. May. Air R. N. Clark of the local P. and T. Department is spending a few days at the Glaciers. Miss 11. Harkness after spending a few days holiday at the Glacier has returned. Miss Lloyd, of Ch-Ch., is on a holiday visit here. Mr A. Price and Air Forbs, of Ch-Ch ar e on a holiday visit here. Rev Father O’Dorothy returned from South AVestland last evening. Residents of that district are loud in singing the praises of the Rev Gentleman for his untiring zeal in the face of many adverse circumstances.
