VALEDICTORY
PRESENTATION TO MR W. H. BADE.
A pleasing function took place at the Railway Station last evening, when members of the various branches of the Greymouth Railway staff met to bid farewell to Mr W. H. Bade, who has filled the position of Timber Checker and Ticket Inspector for the last six years, who is to-day leaving on promotion for Invercargill, where he becomes Goods Sheds Foreman. Mr R. Rose was in the chair, and in a neat speech eulogised the many good qualities of the departing guest. His remarks were endorsed by Messrs Raleigh, Gilmore, Adams, Beaumont and others present. Mr Fowler, Stationmaster, in handing over a solid leather travelling bag to Mr Bade, endorsed all the good wishes of the previous speakers, and incidentally complimented Mr Bade on his integrity and fair dealing both with the public. and the staff. Mr Bade suitably replied, and was given three cheers at the conclusion.
