ILLICIT STILL.
Police Raid. OFFENDERS CONVICTED. AUCKLAND, January 13. Matthew Guy, an elderly man, was fined £25 for being found at Mt. Albert Road, in possession of an apparatus for distilling or rectifying spirit, without license. He was also fined £5 for sly grog selling in the Mt. Roskii.ll no ilicendd tlistuidL Chari /-> (?) Peters and William Pratt were each fined £2 for being found on the premise# for the purpose of illegal dealing in liquor. The police stated that for some time past there have been complaints of sly grog selling just over the Mt. Roskill boundary. On Saturday evening, numbers of men went to the Louse and came away worse for drink. On one two police constables had been served. Accused’s premises w'ere raided last Saturday morning, and <35 bottles and two gallon jars of ale were found, besides several bottles of raw spirit. Two constables discovered part of a still in one room. When the police entered, Peters and Pratt werf each finishing a bottle of ale.
