DARGAVILLE R.C. MEETING. SIR ROSEBERRY WINS CUP. DARGAVILLE, January 12. The first day of the Dargaville Racing Club’s annual meeting was held in glorious weather, with a large attendance, including the Prime Minister, Minister of Lands, and other members of the Legislature, the course was ii excellent order, a no there was good racing. The tote handled £.82994, an in crease of £1594 compared with last year. Results:— Maiden Handicap—2 TAKUTAMU 1; 1 Exalted 2; 4 Corinax 3. Also started: Pontirus, King Leslie (coupled with winner), Kaihoremai, Tetaii, Landslip, Balangar, Glenetta. Won by a length; half a length. Time 1.18. Tokatoka Handicap.—s Wee Marble 1; 1 Automne 2; 4 Creation 3. Also started: Fiery Lad. Roman Abbey, RoyaJ Bonus. Won by a length; half a length. Time 1.16 3-5. Kaihu Hurdles.—2 SCOT FREE 1, 3 Maniahera 2, 4 Master Arch 3. Also started: Comet King, Maniehera. Won by 2 lengths four lengths. Time 3.8 2-5. Scot Free ran Comet King down on a hurdle and the latter fell. At llio conclusion of the race Chaplin, rider of Scot Free, was before the Stewards and asked to give an explanation. which was satisfactory. Tricklebank. rider of Maniehera, was asked a question re the riding of his mount in the race, and was suspended for sb. months for not trying to win.
