MAUI POMARE MYSTERY. OAMARU, January 11Captain Cant was formerly in the Union Company’s service. He was for a time in charge of the Oamaru dredge, and is married to a daughter of Captain Dick, his predecessor. Captain Cant went north and entered the Government service. Finally he was placed in command of the Hinemoa. A London cable message stated that Scotland Yard officials are searching for Captain Arthur Robert James Cant who arrived in Dublin from New Zealand, to take over the new Government steamer Maui Pomare, and subsequently went to Liverpool, owing to a revision of plans, since when he has not been seen.
