T , LONDON, July 8. 1 , e match was resumed in brilliant sunshine on a drying pitch, which at tirst favoured the bowlers to some extent but later became more favourable to the batsmen. Both were out in the same over to Page, who was the only bowler of the seven tried to meet with much suecess. Whysall, who was in three hours for his 82, was missed three times in the sixties. Lowry disposed of Carr with a brilliant catch at long off. having to run 20 yards to reach the ball. The latter batsman appeared to find the bowling easy and gave considerable trouble. The visitors ’ total was passed after four and a-half hours’ batting, for the loss of only six wickets. With Payton and Staples both well set.
