MOVIE TRAGEDY.

LIONESS KILLS STAR. TAMER SENT TO GAOL. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) ROME, July 7. A sentence of six months’ confinement on the lion tamer Schneider, closed a sensational incident, which occurred on February 5, 1924, when a lioness leaped over the bars, thirteen feet high, and killed Parombi, who was acting the part of “Nero” for the film play “Quo Vadis.” Proceeding on charges of homicide and negligence, were taken against the film directors, the Cinematograph Union and the lion tamer, the lastnamed being sent for trial. For the defence, it was contended that it was impossible to forsee the accident, as nobody believed a lioness could leap over thirteen foot bars which were higher than usual.
