AUSTRALIAN ATHLETES.
Considerable discussion took place rerecently regarding the practice of many Australian athletes who had gone to the Olympic Games as amateurs turning professionals before they returned to Australia. It was said that practically every Australian cyclist who had competed in the Games had done so.
It was resolved that the chairman bf the council should take legal opinion as to powers of the council in compelling athletes to enter into an agroe- ; ment with the council before leaving | Australia not to become professionals , for a certain period after their re- ’ turn. i
