CRICKET SELECTORS.
ACTIVE WRITERS BARRED. In barring members of the cricket selection committee from writing for the newspapers, the English authorities have come to a wise decision, says a Sydney writer. It is not tactful to appoint men who are active writers. It is difficult to dissociate them from the office they hold, and their writings
are likely to cause heart-burnings. Besides, it is a hindrance to men who write for them to hold office of this kind.
Many years ago, when a member of the Cricket Association, I was inveigled into accepting a position on a State selection committee. It automatically precluded me from making any criticism of the teams chosen out pf loyalty to the other members of the committee.
