“MARIETTE.”

LAST GREYMOUTH PERFORMANCE. The farewell performance of “Mariotte” was staged at the Opera House last night and was an outstanding success. AVithout an exception, the artists excelled themselves. “Mariotte” as seen last night, is undoubtedly the best local show of the kind for many moons. The company wore honoured by the presence of tlm manager and members of the Canadian Soccer team and a large audience was wildly enthusiastic. To individualise would be unfair, and, indeed, it would bo hard to do so. Nothing of an amateur nature was in evidence, everything going with a swing fiom start to finish. Air. Grame-ITolder the author, and his co-produccr, Air. Eric V. Conwav, have just cause to be very proud of “ Alarictte’s ” continued success and they are certainly assured of a very hearty welcome from Greymouth theatre-goers, if they should return here at some later date with another of Mr. Holder’s plays. At times last night one might easily wonder it

ope were really witnessing a play staged bv our own boys and girls or if it were'not a first class professional companv The comedy element was exceptionally well sustained, and the musical and dramatic sides again left nothing to be desired. Clockwork precision marked the entrances of each character and altogether “Mariotte” was really a marked and remarkable sue“Alariette” lias two more dates to play now, Hokitika, to-night, where it is sure of a bumper house and Blackball on Fridav, which is certain to rally and give “Alariette” a great finale. Mr. Graeme-Holder and Air. Erie V. ( Conwav leave next week for West port, where they have been engaged by the Buller Hospital Board to produce with a AVestport company of amateurs and their friends here will wish them the best of luck in thi scndcavour. MARIETTE AT HOKITIKA. Hokitika goes on fete to-nigb,t. “Alariette” is being staged at the Princess Theatre in its entirety, as at Groymouth, with a company of forty artistes, an orchestra of ten instrumentalists, ami with the author, AV. GraemeHolder, and his co-produccr, Eric V. Conway, playing leading roles. None should miss this. Produced originally in aid of the Grey Hospital Board New Ambulance Fund, this object is still the beneficiary, but “Alariette,” apart from this, is offered to Hokitika theatregoers as a first class theatrical show, one to be remembered by virtue of its clever story, its wonderful acting, and its beautiful staging.
