REEFTON NOTES.

/Par Own porrespondaat.) The League football match, Alawheraiti v. Reefton, resulted in a win for Reef ton by Bto 6. The game was a very line exposition of the code, being open and fast. Alawheraiti were two men short for a while, Reefton were superior in the first half, but after the spell play was more even, Mawhcraiti being if anything superior. For Reefton, AlcElvvec, Wright, Aflison. and Gilroy (backs) played well, and Skinner, Curtis, Archer, and Costelloe (forwards) showed out. For the losers, Steele, Robinson, Byrne, and AlcAlpine (backs) ami Alichel, Gough, and Per- 1 kens (forwards) were prominent. The Rugby match, Shop Assistants v. Cronadun, was played at Cronadun, the home team winning by 21 to 5. The ground was heavy from the recent rain and in poor condition for playing on. Irving, left by car for Alotueka on Alonday morning to attend the annual meeting.

A man named George Hina Brewer was arrested at Inangahua Junction on Alonday afternoon in possession of the missing Whippet Overland car, by Constables Hill and Houston. appears that he passed through Reefton on Saturday morning, and had been located at Inangahua Junction, making a couple of trips to Westport in the meantime. He also attended the football match at Cronadun on Sunday afternoon. The number plate on the car had been altered, evidently with the idea of stopping identification, and the round shield, hood, and radiator of the car were damaged as the result of a “spill. The spill occurred about halfway between Cronadun and Inangahua Junction. He was brought into Reefton, and lodged in the lock-up on Alonday j night, and was driven to Greymouth im the stolen car on Tuesday morning. It is stated there is a man wanted for a similar charge of converting to his own use a car in Wellington, but the identity of the offender will doubtless • have to be proved in Court. 'The surrounding country is largely snow-eovered at present, there being over a foot of snow in some places, such as Big River and Rahu Saddle. Miss Barnes, relieving teacher at the District High School, arrived on Satur-
