WESTPORT NEWS.
(Our Own Correspondent.) WESTPORT, June 14. The death of Air Edward Beswick, member of a well known Westport family, occurred at Blenheim on Saturday. Deceased was 38 years of age. He leaves a widow and family of six children. Golden Bay, Alotucka Rugby Union, intends to send a team this year to tour Buller, West Coast, Canterbury, and probably Marlborough. Air P. Keenan, chief clerk of the State Forest Service, Nelson, who visited Westport on official business, left to-day for Nelson. Air T. Butterworth, of Christchurch, is on a holiday visit to his people. Airs Jamieson left yesterday for Blenheim, where the death occurred on Saturday of her brother, Air E. Beswick. Air J. AlcDiarmid. formerly in the Harbour Board service as chief engineer on the tug and dredging craft, is now’ resident in Dunedin. Air Keith Paul, who has been visiting his sister, Airs Erickson, of Romilly Street, left by car this morning for Nelson. Mr A. C. Jenkins, engineer of the Public Works Department, is in AVestport, from Lake Alanapouri. in connection with harbour works and river protection. In the Rugby match at Karamea ou Saturday, Alokihinui and Karamea each scored an unconverted try, the match being drawn. Mr H. E. HOLLAND, M.P. PRE-S ESSTON AL ADDRESSES. Air IT. E. Holland, ALP. (Leader of the Opposition) will deliver ■ pre-scs-sional addresses at. Seddonville at 8 p.m. to-morrow, and at Ngakawau. at 7.15 p.m. on Friday. In addition to general matters, Air Holland at Seddonville will deal specially with the coal and timber questions, while he will speak at Ngakawau on unemployment, immigration ami the Singapore base.
