TRANSFERS TO ENGLAND. (Australian anil N.Z. Cable Assn.) SYDNEY, June 14. It is reported that a member of the University League football team received an offer of £lOOO and a handsome weekly salary, to sign on with the Leeds Club. Several others were approached on behalf of other English clubs. Some players rejected the offers, while others are still considerbig the position. A warning is uttered that the Rugby Union is no less affected by the English residential qualification decision, and that there is a likelihood that efforts will be made to secure the best players among the team about to visit England, for English clubs. A meeting of the New South Wales Rugby League considered the breaking of the residential qualification by the English League, and decided to get into touch with the League authorities in Queensland and New Zealand with a

view to arriving at a common complaint, which could be forwarded to the English League as soon as possible in order to prevent further action by agents of English clubs with the object of securing Australian players. 1 It was further decided that the English League be requested to defer lifting the ban until the English team is in Australia next season when it is hoped a conference of managers of the team and representatives of New South Wales, Queensland and New Zealand will be able to reach a satisfactory agreement. WEST COAST RUGBY LEAGUE MEETING. The weekly meeting of the above was held last evening, Air W. S. Clarke presiding over the following delegates: —Alcssrs S. Thomas. Armstrong, AlcDonagh, J. Thomas, Buckley, Kiely, Walters. White, and Wingham. The New Zealand Council wrote asking this League to keep them posted in regard to all League business of any importance, also that any reinstate ments to the code must receive the endorsement of the Council, also a list of all registrations, disqualifications, and transfers, so that a complete copy of tb.ese could be kept. The Council also wished to ascertain the exact conditions of the grounds used by this League, including the rent, etc. The Secretary was instructed to supply the necessary information. The Nelson Creek Club wrote protesting against the Grey Club playing a Senior man in thair game last Sunday. The protest was upheld, and the game awarded to Nelson Creek, the protest fee being refunded.

The Blackball Domain Board wrote stating that it had decided to make a charge of 20 per cent, on all gates for challenge matches on that ground. The letter was referred to the Blackball (’lull. The Club also challenged for the Junior ami Third Grade Challenge Cups. The applications were granted in the first two eases, and in the case of McGuire was referred for approval to the Brunner Chib. Hartshorne was granted a transfer from Blackball to Brunner, subject to Blackball’s approval, and J. Randall was granted permission to play Junior for the Brunner Club. The Mafist Club applied for permission for its Third and Fourth Grade teams to go on tour.
