The Championship Doubles Competition of the Alakuru Croquet Club was completed this week, the following be iiig the result of the competition:— First Life.—First Bound: Airs AleLay and Airs Coburn a bye, Airs Teunent and Airs Saywell beat Airs Thomas and Airs {Smith, Airs Whibley and Airs Alerter beat Airs Topliss and Aliss Sheedy, Airs Hannan and Airs Griffen defaulted to Airs Legg and Airs Scott Second Round: Airs Ale Kay and Airs Coburn lost to Airs Tennent and Airs Hay well, Airs Whibley and Airs Alercer lost to Airs Legg and Airs Scott. In the final of this life Airs Tennent and Airs Saywell beat Airs Legg and Airs Scott. Second Life.—First Round: Airs Topliss and Aliss Sheedy a bye, Airs Whibley and Airs Afercer beat Airs Ale kay and Airs Coburn, Airs Tennent and Airs Saywell beat Airs Legg and Airs; ,Scott, Airs Thomas and Airs Smith won by default from Airs Hannan and Airs Griffen. Second Round: Airs Topliss and Aliss Sheedy beat Airs Whibley and Airs Alercer, Airs Tennent and Airs Saywell beat Airs Thomas and Airs Smith. The final of this life was played by Airs Tennent and Airs Saywell against Airs Topliss and Aliss Sheedy, Airs Tennent and Airs Saywell winning. They arc therefore the winners of the championship doubles, having played all their games without being beaten.
