HUKARERE NOTES.

(Our Own Correspondent.) Since vvritiag my last notes there is not much of a change about this loca_ nty, although the weather has, if any thing, got a little bit- more towards sunnier, as the gardens just begin to look as if they are deriving the benefit of a few warm days. A pleasant function took place last Saturday in the form of a Christmas I'ree for the little folk, which was organised by Alr.s L- Harris, who must be given great credit fo r the manner in which she had everything arranged, as the children were all satisfied by the time they departed for home. There followed a dance in the evening for the lovers of the light fantastic there being a good number present, the mu,si c for which was supplied by Mr. F. Bassano, and Mr. G. Wilson ably officiated in the capacity of M.C. .Among the ladies present we r e the following.—Miss Hardy, lemon crepe de chine; AIr s Flynn, vieux voile; Mrs T. Mitchell, black satin ; Miss Walsh, floral voile; Airs Richards, floral marocain ; Airs Venis, heliotrope mam cain; Airs McEwin, tussore, silk; Mrs Bell, blue satin; Mr s Harris, pale blue satin; Miss Bernard, naw blue serge • Mis s McEwin, grey crepe de chine; Airs Palmer, navy blue serge; Miss Cuff, pink marocain ; Mrs Peterson, navy blue serge; Miss Chisne.H. blue satin; Airs Merrick, navy serge; Miss Stephens, saxe blue velvet; Miss Phelan, kingfisher blue; A'liss Petersen, navy blue serge; Miss Burrows, brown cloth. Som e of the gentlemen present were:—Messrs Peterson, Harris, Jamieson, Richards, Russell, Alitchell, Walters, McEwin, Mclnroe (2), Hardy, Ronchi, Wilson, Duggan, Bassano, Merrick, Flynn. Thorn, Bell, Jobbins, S. Quinn, Prendergast. Dancing was kept up till the Sabbath morn broke, when everyone agreed they had fully enjoyed themselves and departed for home, thus bringing to a close, one of the happiest little functions hold in the village for quite a while.
