FARMERS’ UNION.

NGAHERE DISTRICT BRANCH. A meeting of the Ngahere District Branch of the N.Z.F.U. was held m the Hall at Ngahere on Saturday, 23rd October inst. Branch President \V. Fisher took the chair punctually at the appointed hour of meeting. There 'were present the members named:— Messrs Craig, Ryan, Cowan, Campbell, I Jacobs, O’Brien, McLaughlin, Duggan, j Costigan and Mulcare, Secretary, 'file [Provincial Balance Sheet was read and | on the motion of the President, seconded by Mr O’Brien,’ was rocnived [as satisfactory. i Air Cowan moved and Mr Costigan seconded that a letter be sent to the Chief Postmaster thanking him for ■his courtesy in meeting the Union’s wishes re a morning mail on days following a postal holiday. Mr Green resigned from the Agricultural Committee owing to ill-health. The Hll-i ing of the vacancy wr.s left over until the next meeting of the branch.

The Secretary was instructed t > write to Mr McNair, District Railway Engineer, thanking him for the promptitude with which he had the request of the branch for the fencing of the unfenoed portion of the railway line near Kamaka, complied with. The President’s action in regard to the track to the Kopara Hot Springs was endorsed and he was appointed to represent the Branch at the visit of the Minister of Public Works to the district and to urge the necessity ior the completion of the Bell Hill Road upon the Minister. It was decided to once more draw the attention of the County Council of Grey to the dangerous corner on Die Main Road near the gravel pit at Ngahere. Mr T. Mallinsou was admitted to menitiership of the Branch on the motion of Mr Craig. —Seconded by Mr O’Brien. A hearty vote of thanks to the Chairman concluded the proceedings.
