How ever, they have some promising players o\’er there, who only wa»;it coaching to become really good men. ’’ 'The Buller forwards continued Mr Davis played a very good game, and W(>re a good hunting pack. 'The Buller barks were outclassed by the Westland men, the latter team’s backs playing much better than their opponents. “Steel has gone back.” said Mr Davis. “Ho seemed to bi* lazy. Addington Yards. 'Then entry of fat cattle at the weekly stock sale at Addington to-dav totalled 53G head, compared with 4!>S last week. 'The ipialtiy varied a good deal. There were a few lines of really prime steers forward but the bulk of the yarding was of rather indifferent quality, the proportio’n of cows being about as heavy as usual. Good beef met with an active demand throughout and prices for this class improved by 2s a JOG lb on late rates. Medium and inferior stuff slewed practically no change in values. Prices per 1001 b were: — Best beef to 41s. Good. 36s to 3S/G. Medium 33s to 35/6. Light, 27s to 325. Rough, 15s to 255. The yarding of fat sheep filled nine races, two less than last week, biicluded in the entry were souk* well finished lines from Smith Canterbury but on tin* whole the (piality was only fair the proportion of wethers being smaller than usual. 'The* market was i'liclined to be irregular but generally speaking it was a satisfactory one from the point of view of' vendors. 'The sale finished up firmly som e sheep of outstanding quality b'.'ing offered in tielast race. As it is now clearly the end of the fat lamb seasi.'.i, the* entry in this section yesterday was a small one (SOO head), of indifferent (piality. The demand was not at all active ami si-liedule rates were not maintained in most cases. For the time of the year there was a large entry of store sheep, consisting mainly < f hoggets. 'Taken on the whole the sale was a good one, late rates being fully maintained. Hoggets and ewes especially sold well. 'There was a fairy large entry of store cattle but it included no quotable li’nes the bulk of the offering consisting of potting cows. 'The dairy cattle totalled 95 head. It included a few really good cows < lose to calving, and these were eagerly sought afi ter, but the demand for other sorts was not particularly bright, and they | declined in price. ’ Vealers suitable for killing were in short supply, and they sold well at a (-O’nsiderable advance mi late rates. Porkers were in demand, and they were better than last week by 5s t<> Ss a head whilst baconers sold firmly at late values. There was a entry of store pigs and all lots were disposed of at prices equal to those of a week ago.
