TEAPOT DOME SCANDAL. LEGA L DECISIO N VALID A T ES LEASE. (Received June 20 at 5.5 p.m.) NEW YORK, June 19. A message from Cheyenne, in the State of Wyoming, states that the lease of the Mammoth Oil .Company on the Teapot Dome naval oil reserve has been held to be legal by Federal Judge Kennedy, in giving his decision in the Government’s suit against the lease. The decision vas based on the ground that the lease was obtained by Mr Sinclair (oil magnate) from Mr Fall (ex.Senatorl), who was the then Federal Secretary of State for the Interior, through fraud and conspiracy, as cabled in March of last year. , In ti lengthy comprising two thousand words. Judge Kennedy has ruled that the Government has fair to prove that the evidence ‘is sufficient to nullify the lease. This decision ends the long political controversy on the litigation arising from ex. It is generally conceded that Mr Roberts and Mr Pomerenc, the Federal Government’s counsel, were at a disadvantage during the trial of the case, through the refusal of ex. Senator Fall and others to testify. They refused on the grounds that they might incriminate themselves. Counsel also were handicapped through the I absence of other witnesses.
