HOKITIKA NOTES.
(Our Own Correspondent.) Quite a lot of newcomers are arriving here lately. The housing conditions are not the best, and there are at present no available empty houses. The many friends of Mr F. Keenan, of Rimu, will regret to hear that he is at present an inmate of the Westland Hospital, suffering from a very severe illness. We hope to be able to report soon an improvement in his condition and his ultimate recovery to good health in the near future. The south trader Elsie sailed on Sunday afternoon last, with a full load of provisions, for the settlers at Bruce Bay and Okura. The vessel’s cargo included four milking machines, which are to be installed in tho Okura district. Air F. Fane is at present confined to his home suffering from an attack of influenza. Extensive alterations have been made to Hall’s Dunedin Hotel in Revell Street. These include the addition of several new rooms and the general renovation of the building, which has been rcpapcrcd and painted throughout. All this work will add greatly to the comfort of patrons.
