ELECTION PLANS. THE I.L.P. ACTIVE. 18 WOMEN CANDIDATES. [A. and N.Z. Cable Association.] LONDON, October 12. In view of the prospect of an early election, the Independent Labour Party has planned 500 demonstrations and 200 conferences before the end of the year. It is significant that the party, though always hitherto aiming at State Socialism, now opposes bureaucratic State control, suggesting instead that the trade unions be broadened in order to include all workers with hand or brain, and that the unions should be responsible for the internal management of an industry acting in conjunction with the eon.su mRepresentatives of the party demand that the first Labour Government should call a world conference to secure the abolition of armaments by mutual consent. Eighteen, women have been adoptee as candidates for the next general election, mostly women who have made their reputations in municipal politics. MORE FREEDOM! LONDON, October 12. Mr Lloyd George will receive the Freedom of Salford after his Manchester speech. The organisers have been deluged with applications for seats.
