DEMANDS GENERAL ELECTION. [A. and N.Z. Cable Association.) (Rec. October 11, at 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, October 10. An emergency meeting of the Joint Labour Council has passed a resolution demanding the Government’s immediate resignation, and a general election ,ns the only clear step for insuring a rigorous reconsideration of the position .not only in the Near East, but in an the Home and foreignprob- ; lems. The resolution declares that ; there is not a shadow of justification for war with Turkey, now that all the substantial matters have been referred to a’ conference. The Council condemns tlie Government’s publicity bureau lor gH mg out to the press communications that have been keeping the country in a state of uncertainty and alarm.
