SPORTS AT CAPE FOULWINE : During the week-end a large gather . ing of members from the five organiser > Unions in Westport met and arrange* .'for the. carrying out. of sports at (’apt . : Foulwind on Labour Day (Monday 1 ; October 23). Hot water, tea : sugar and milk will be provided, a> usual, on the sports ground, and the Committee are arranging with some oi I the ladies to run a refreshment stall in the selling of fruits, sweets, lollies ami soft drinks. It is understood that th? B: 11 Committee will have charge of ’ the department. Arrangements will be . made with the brewci-s to send water : for the coppers out to the sports ground jin barrels, as there is no suitable water j available at the ground. Mr McLean, at the Cape, will see to the ground being cleaned up, ami especially about the shelter trees under which the people will be sorted at the refreshment hours. The band will be in attendance and give the sports ever}’ assistance in making the day an enjoyable one. It was decided to ask the business and trades people of Westport to join in tho day’s sport, by having a grand j demonstration on the Monday morning ' at 10 a.in. These demonstrations were a great success many years ago, ami drew crowds to witness them, and it would be a great encouragement for country people to visit the town. A good prize will be presented to the best turn out that morning. There is to be £3O paid out in cash prizes, and great preparations will be made for the children, and also for a baby show for the best bay and girl under eighteen months.
