RUSSIAN HELP TO BRITISH MINERS. [A. and N.Z. Cable Association.] LONDON, July 20. During a debate at the Miners’ Federation Conference there were advocates of affiliation with the Red Interli: tional. They asserted the miners had received forty thousand sterling from Russia during their recent strike. Mr Hodges replied the Federation received two and a half million roubles from Russia. This, however, had only produced £66. THOMAS'S TALK. IS LT CAPITALIST IDEA? AMSTERDAM, July 19. Mr J. IL Thomas, the Labour Member of the British House of Commons, at the opening of the International Trades Union Conference Executive, said the German situation had convinced him the time had arrived to show a strong international labour front to support German labour’s light, and guard the German Republic, and prevent any future monarchical reactionary attack. It was declared that they were parts of the Versailles Treaty which distressed the world’s labour and strengthened Germany’s reactionaries, and these needed revision.
