The Maoris put on a penalty goal, making the score eight to six in their favour. Then they added a converted try, which j made them thirteen to six. Moonlight and Runanga trying conclusions at Blackball. The game w:.s not a bad one by any means, very’ nice combination being in evidence at times. Runanga was very’ noticeable in this respect during the last twenty’ minuter of the game. For the winners, Par-son-go gave a good display between the sticks. The backs were inclined to be somewhat w ’d. ami they were lucky that Moonlight u.d i:o.t utilise their opportunities in front of the goal. 'l'he half backs played well, and fed the forwards nicely, Barnes being the pick. Eyeington had his work cut out opposing T. McNicol, but did not disgrace himself. The Runanga forwards all did well. One or two of the Runanga team played with unnecessary vigour, and were admonished by the referee with good results. Moonlight’s emergency goal keeper did not altogether cover himself with glory, but was handicapped through not being arrayed in football garb. You can't expect a man to ruin his best suit for a game of football! McNicol and Adamson had an unthankful task in playing at full back, positions they’ lr d never essayed before. Individually they played well, but the team work was missing. Bond was the pick of the halves and in the first half played finely. Gourlay also did well, and T. Wilson, the voter: n goalkeeper, who played left half, often nullified the efforts of the Runanga right wing forward. T. MeNicol was the pick, J. McNicol, Hall and McDonald also rendering good assistance. Hampson had an off day and left his shooting boots at home. Moonlight’s next : nd final competition game will probably be at Greyinouth next pay Saturday, against the Grey team. THE WESTLAND SOCCER COM PETITION. Standing of Clubs: — Goals P. W. L. for. agst.
