The many friends of Air 11. Craig, Manager of the Kokatahi Timber Coy. .Mill, nt White’s Road, will regret to hear that he is at present confined to his bed suffering from a rather severe illness. We hope to be able to report bis return to good health in the near future. Air .1. Atkinson, Farm Alanager at the local Alental Hospital, is at present on holidays. Mr W. Ritchie, of Bruee Bay (South Westland) is at present on a visit to town. J understand it is his intention shortly to leave the Southern settlement, and reside in this district. Tho building trade continues to remain brisk here. There are at present no carpenters out of employment. The funeral of the late Mr Gus Haussmann took place on Thursday afternoon, and was attended by a large nuniber of friends of the deceased and his family. The Rev. Dr. Kennedy officiated at the Church and at the graveside. j The District Supreme Court sits at ‘9.30 a.m. this morning. | A local syndicate is at present nego- ' tinting for the. purchase of a suitable vessel for the South AVestland trade. A very suitable auxiliary ketch is at ‘present under oiler nt Auckland. I There is little or no change in the , timber trade here.
