WESTPORT NOTES
Mrs Mclntyre, wife of Buller’s M.L.U. has successfully undergone an operation at the Westport District Hospital, in which institution she hasfor a couple of month's past been a patient. We wish Mrs Mclntyre a speedy return to normal health. Air J. W. Alunson, “Lynlands” is spending a few days in town. Air and Mrs A. C. Cottrell contemplate returning to this district sometime in December next. The two local dailies have both had something to say about the equipment and staffing of the new’ Technical High School, but. neither was wide awuk- 1 enough to point to the important and desir: ble complement that is required for the completion of this new educational institution. We refer to the* necessity of building an up-to-date Government hostel so that country students may be given the opportunity to stand on a footing of equality with children living in the town. At last sitting of the Magistrate’s Court held at Westport Air T. E. Al nunsell S.M. warned the Court, that he would have to put the screw on a lit tie tighter in cases where people were caught riding on the footpath am! without light at night on their bicycles. Also owners of stray cattle would have to submit to a further increase in penalties.
