THE MANUREWA.
REWARD OFFERED FOR SEARCH. WRECKAGE NOT IDENTIFIED. (Received Mny 29, 10 p.m.) SYDNEY, May 29. The Assistant Lighthousekeoper at the South Head, whose son is aboard the missing barque Manurewa, has offered a substantial sum towards coaling a vessel to search the Middleton Reef. It is understood that the Federal Xayy Department lias been in communication with the New Zealand Government relative to a scarcli, now that, wreckage is coining Io light almost daily. The Sydney agents are in an unfortunate position, as they find it difficult to make positive identification, they not being familiar with the Manurewa, which trailed so long between Auckland and San Francisco that, the details of her are forgotten by them. HAS MANUREWA SUNK. LATEST REPORT. BRISBANE. May 29. The steamer Levuka, from Sydney, has reported that she struck a submerged mast half a mile- off Solitary Island, in over 50 feet of water. It is believed that it belongs to the, Manuewa. The Levuka was not damaged.
