The Daily Telegraph publishes authenticated official telegrams sent by the late Talaat Pasha, Turkish. Grand Vizier of * Constantinople, to the Turkish Prefecture at Aleppo, during 1915 and 1916, authorising a massacre of the Armenians. These telegrams, which, reveal the pitiless savagery of the Turkish mentality, are among the documents which were seized when Lord Allenby captured Aleppo. The following quotation is typical of Talaat Pasha’s instructions:—“As you have been previously informed, the Government have decided on the complete extermination of all the Armenians resident in Turkey. without regard as to whether they are women, children, or invalids. itliout listening to any promptings of conscience, an end must be put to their existence —however tragic—by means of extermination. ’ ’ Another telegram warns the Prefecture that the American consuls, acting under instruction from their Government, were making inquiries into the Armenian, massacres. Therefore it insirui'ls that there shall be no incidents of a nature to attract attention. It says “while the processions of Armenians who are being taken to their homes are passing our town and Larger villages, foreigners should, be convinced, by their observations, that the Armenians arc being merely deported to new residences.
