“ARGUS” PRESENTATION.

TO MR W. HOLMES. The members of the “Argus” staff assembled in the Linotype Department on Saturday' to extend wishes for “bon voyage” to Air W. Holmes, who is shortly leaving on a seven months' holiday’ to England. The secretary’ (Mr J. O’Brien) made a neat little speech in the course of which he expressed the appreciation of the management of Air Holmes’s faithful service during his ’term as a member of the staff. He was I pleased that it was not “farewell” but only “au revoir ” they’ were saying ro him. To show their appreciation of his services and good fellowship the staff presented Air Holmes with a purse of notes, and wished him a plesant trip and early return to the “Argus.” Afessrs J. McGrath, A. J. Furness, and L. J. Cronin supported Air O’Brien land intimated that any feeling of regret .the staff may have regarding his departure would be eclipsed by’ the anticipation of his return. The hvai.h <■:’ the guest was heartily honoured and individual expressious of good wishes extended to him. Air Holmes will leave by the express on Thursday morning for Wellington, and will sail from there by’ the “Corinthic” on the 10th of this month.
