SEAMEN’S WAGES.
OWNERS DEMUR. AT PAYING INCREASE. WELLINGTON, Jan IS. The executive of the Seamen’s Federation met yesterday to consider a letter from the Ship Owners’ Federation asking it not to enforce clause 43 of the agreement whether for or against the seamen’s organisation. The executive therefore cannot see its way to accede to the shipowners’ request. The shipowners have been asked to direct all boats to pay the increased scale as from December 21 last.
