ARBITRATION ACT.
PROPOSED AMENDMENTS SECRETARIES UP IN ARMS. CHRISTCHURCH, Jan 18. A meeting of Union secretaries and representatives held to consider the proposed amendments to the Conciliation and Arbitration Act decided to recommend the Canterbury Trades and Labour Council to summon a meeting of union delegates on Saturday. It was also resolved that this meeting views the proposed amendments as a travesty on democratic principles, and if the Government persists in forcing its proposals, we are determined to obtain justice for the men we represent by all means we can command.
