SAME OLD TALE.

DISABLED SOLDIERS NEGLECTED. AMERICAN PROTESTS. (Received January 17, 11.30 p.m.) WASHINGTON, January 16. The Harding Government is undergoing criticism respecting its administration of the homes and hosptals for ex-servicemen. A committee from the Disabled American Veterans was presented to President Harding with a petiton settng forth that the mentally disabled veterans were victims of gross neglect, callous indifference, deliberate profiteering, and inadequate treatment. The committee charged the Government that it did not provide any hospital faeiltes for insane soldiers, but was farming out these among various State asylums, which were notoriously overcrowded and inadequately equipped to treat and care for them. The committee alleged that various States, realising that a profit would result, used makeshifts instead of fully equipped institutions. Many soldiers requiring treatment were unable to go to hospitals because they have dependents.
