THE CAPE STRIKE.

NO AGREEMENT. SOME BLACKLEGGISM. [A. and N.Z. Cable Association.] CAPE TOWN, Jan 16. A conference between the strikers and employers lasted all day. An excellent tone prevailed throughout, but the proceedings were adjourned without reaching an agreement. Despite the efforts of the extremists, the underground officials of the Union agreed unanimously to maintain essential services. A small faction fight between natives in one compound was promptly cheeked, otherwise there was no trouble. The Benoni district is almost the only one affected by the withdrawal of essential services, to-night being without light.
