ESCAPE FROM HOSPITAL.

LADY FOUND DEAD. TRAGEDY AT DUNEDIN. DUNEDIN, Jan 17. Catherine McDonald, aged 45 years, who escaped from the hospital a week ago, was found early this morning at the foot of an embankment at Queen’s Drive. She was still alive when found, but died before a doctor came, from exposure. LATER— The full name of the woman found this morning was Catherine Susan Macdonald, married, .living apart from her husband. Evidence at the inquest showed that she had influenza and suffered from depression though rational. Deceased left the Dunedin Hospital in her night attire early on the morning of January 4, and no trace of her was found till now. About four months ago she went into the bush, when her child was taken from her, and she suffered ill health since. The medical evidence was that death was due to starvation, inanition and exposure accelerated by a fall. The inquest was adjourned.
