PACIFIST PLUTOCRAT.
WANTS TO BUY A NAVY. FORD’S OFFER TO FRANCE NEW YORK, Jan 14. Henry Ford has announced his willingness to buy the entire French navy. His friends are unable to tell whether to take him seriously, though he has been doing some unusual financing. He loaned eight million dollars to his life-long friend, Henry Leland, to save the Lincoln Motor Company. Ford certainly exchanged cables with Paris. The French Government asked him if he would buy certain ships as junk. Ford replied that he wanted the entire navy or nothing.
