FIRES AT TAUMARUNUI.
TAUMARUNUI, December 2a. On Saturday night a lire gutted a 1.7-roomed 'house. The fire had a good iold when the brigade was notified. V woman, children, and one boarder .vere in thc # house -when the lire broke nit," but they escaped. Tlic origin is unknown. The furniture was owned ny Mrs. Carter and the -building by G. Ij. Winger. Both were insured. On Sunday afternoon a /ire occurred ii Bowman and Carringtou 's cabinet works suid F. T. Bro\Vn V storeroom. Both' wore gutted. The. brigade has a ■plcndid water pressure, and .saved a laige block of buildings in the main street. The buildings and stock were insured.
