SYDNEY MURDERS.
RETURNED OFFICER'S CREME.
(Rec. December IS, 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, December IS. A double tragedy has occurred at Mossvaio. Major- Labar, a returned soldier, shot his Avife dead. He also shot a policeman dead. A number of police wore kept at bay for two hours before they succeeded in affecting his arrest. '. _ Since his- return from the war, Major Labarto suffered from paiiis in the head and Avas strange in his manner. After shooting his wife in the presence of her maid, he telephoned to the police and informed them of the tragedy. When they arrived he opened fire uyon them, and shot Constable Mitchell dead. Police reinforcements then surrounded the house, but they were kept at bay by Labart's fusiladc. Eventually a constable managed. to effect an entrance Avhilc Labartc Avas watching the other police, and, escaping two 1 shots that liaMTte discharged at him, as he closed, he managed to- overpower Labart after a desperate struggle.
