Sir, — The Drapers' and Boot' Im)orters' Association having received he following letter wish to ask your rind permission to reply through the nedium of your correspondence coumn. "February 'l3th, 1917. "To the Secretary, "Drapers' Association. 'Dear Sir, "As requested by you I have obtained an expression of opinion in reference to the half -holiday question,ind the result is 49 in favour of Wedicsday and 6 against. "I may say in a large number of jases the signatures were obtained on the distinct understanding that your issociation agree to closing at 12 ioon on Wednesdays, and a continumce of the 5.30 closing, in the event Jf Wednesday being declared the sta- ' ;utory half-holiday. An official conirmation would be welcome! "Faithfully yours, "J. D. GRAY." My association decided that condiionally that the closing day remained iVednesday. they would agree to close it noon; also that they will continue o close at 5.30 p.m. on the other veek-days, excepting Saturday.— I am,. !tC, .
