PRESENTATION TO MR F. MAY

FROM RAILWAY STAFF. On the eve of his departure for Trentham to join the Eleventh Reinforcements, Mr F. May, of the Railway Engineers Office, was presented with a pocket wallet and shaving mug by his fellow officers. Mr J. K. Lowe, in a few wellchosen words, congratulated Mr May on the step he was taking and wished him a safe return. Mr May suitably responded. FROM MRS ARNOTT 'S BOARDERS. A number of friends met last noight | at Mrs Arnott's Boarding House, tv j big farewell to Mr Fred May, of the Railway Engineers Offiflce, who leaves this morning for the camp at Trentham previous to going to the front. 1 This is the second time Mr May offered his services for King and country since this great war started, having already served with the First Contingent at Samoa. Mr Walker, .as chairman, and on behalf of the present gathering presented Mr May with a case of pipes as a mark of the esteem in which he was held by all present, and wished him a safe return. Sergeant May suitably responded remarking that no one could foresee what position one might be placed in, but they could rest assured that he would do his duty. The gathering then terminated after singing "For lie's a. Jolly Good Fellow."
