CARNIVAL NOTES.
SATURDAY 23rd OCTOBER
NO FINES
The No. i Committee wish it understood that at the Veteran's match, on Saturday, there will be no arrests, no Court of Injustice, and no fines. No doubt it is pleasant to escort two Phair (or dark) police, women to the Court of Injustice, but "parting up" a Colonial dolar or two is likely to leave a nasty twang: in the mouth. Nothing of this sort, however, will sully the afternoon's sport on Saturday next. Mr Bates (Sky Pilot) has promised a gloriously fine afternoon, the shops are closing for a couple of hours. The procession will be such as never was before and the record croAvd will certainly benefit "the cause" — the Wounded Soldiers' Fund — to the extent of at least three figures.
