MANUFACTURE OF AMMUNITION
MELBOURNE, June 11
Senator Genson has announced that he has arranged for two shifts to be worked at the small arms factory.
Mr. Delegrat, General Manager of the Broken Hill Proprietary, states that the Company is willing and anxious to utilise the Newcastle steel works for the manufacture of munitions. The Directorate of the Broken Hill Associated Melters has intimated its willingness to place the output of the newly acquired Port Pirie works at the disposal of the Government.
BRISBANE, June 11
At a munitions meeting, convened by the Chamber of Commerce, the Governor said that it was galling to sit twiddling their fingers while the soldiers were waiting for munitions. Professor Gibson said that there was sufficient material in Australia, to turn out shells at the rate of 10,000 a week. SYDNEY, June 11.
Many othor engineering and manufacturing firms haw expressed a readiness to assist in the manufacture of mnnHions. students at technical colleges will be included in the coming mobilisation for industry. A consultative boa.rd has been set up and will be presided over by a Minister.
During the first half of the year, the production of munitions increased seven fold.
