ITS MERITS AND DEMERITS
THE HON. A FISHER'S OPINION. BT TTJrEGBAKI — VJ3B PS.ES3 ASSOCIATION AUCKLAND, Dec. 30. Replying to a reference by the caretrs' representative jto the Arbitration Court, in which he criticised the framing of an award, Mr. A Fisher sadd that however much they might be disappointed with the position to-day they should not forget that in the early days New Zealand did a good deal to lead the- way in industrial leg isilation One could believe thait arbitration was the endi of all things. When first inaugurated it was better than strikes but ithe expense was > unjustifiabe The tedious process of getting io the courts, especialy the dual system of the Commanweath, made it a burded almost too> heavy to bear. Tn New Zealand' it was an intellectual contest between those who held the Labour Party's views -and those who didn't. With equali opportunity they should not blame anyone but themselves. ;
