ACCUSED CHARGES POLICE WITH ASSAULT. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Oct. 16. When a young- man, named Geo. Chas. Beynon, appeared before the Magistrate's Court this, afternoon charged with being- illegally on private premises at rrig-ht, councel for the defence made a statement suggesting that the sergeant who arrested Beynon had kicked him. This, the- sergeant denied, stating that Beynon had attempted to resist arrest and objected to being searched. Counsel said the matter was serious, and might lead to a charge of assault being laid against the sergeant. Inspector Hendry: "We can answer anything you bring." The information was dismissed and Inspector Hendry said another charge would be brought against Beynon.
