Outhwaite asked whether the Admiralty were aware of the endeavoors to fnake the Australian government induce New Zealand! to cooperate in a local navy when the Admiralty requested New Zealand to allow the battle cruiser .to be added to the first cruiser squadron, also whether it was the Admiralty's policy to isolate the Common/wealth in'its endeavours to safeguard Imperial interests in the Pacific. . . The Hon. Winston Churdhill replied no to both questions. He had had the advantage of a long discussion with the Hon. J. Allen and was fully advised of the : situation in Australasia.
