CHEAPER HOMES FOR WORKERS

Governor Carmichael "told a deputation seeking information that the Government proposals, in regard to providing cheaper homes for 'workers it is intended to introduce a 'bill nexv session to enable Government to purchase lands and erect dwellings to sell to anyone ■ wishful to buy. They were satisfied' that they could supply purchasers with a reasonable good , house for a payment of about ten shillings weekly. This must interfere with private landlords, but could not be helped.
