A meeting at^the^ Broken Town Hall,; called by the Socialist group, to protest ag&inst the fostering of a military spirit, led to a strong counter demonstration, eliding in a free fight and interference by the police. The voices ofj; the speakers were drowned by the singfng of patriotic f.ongs. The furniture and fittings of the hall suffered
considerably during the rough and tumble.--.-/ When order was "restored the counter demonstration: carried a. resolution endorsing the defence movement for the citizen soldier.
