- AUCKLAND, Dec 9Some time was spent by the Trades and Labor Council to-night in discussing- the immigration policy of the Government. The majority of the speakers expressed disapproyalat the importation of immigrants into New Zealand on the ground that there was no work .for them when they got here": It "Avas stated that the people were induced to throw up billets in the Old Country by flattering representations made of the prosperity in the dominion, only to find when they got here that the.ranks of labour in their particular line were overcrowded.
