PREMYSLAV. A GREAT VIOLINIST.

I There is every prospect of a-ibuim-per house for Monday fight's concert to hear "for the last time, in Greymouth Premyslav, the eminent Polish violinist now ..touring New Zealand. He is a great linguist speaking many languages. Russian, Servian, Austrian, German^; Italian, and French slip smothly from his tonuge. His English is not so good ; but with him it is not the tongue that tells' his thoughts and sympathies. The melody of his beautiful' violin interprets the feelings of the player and excites the sentiments of his hearers. How strange that many perform and so few. really touch. . , l M. Premyslav is a very interesting personality. He was born in Warsaw, so were Paderewski and Wieniawski. He became^ at five years a ' prodigy, but he remarked to a Times representative "that is many years .ago." It is not 20 years ago, as a matter of fact, and he has been practically performing in- public ever since. Premyslav is assisted by Mrs Gower-Burns the : soprano of • the Company, and of whom the Wanganoii Chronicle says :"Mrs" Burns simply ; captivated the large audience and we venture to say that before the last sweet -notes of her first '• song die^ .away into silence there were many' of her hearers ready to admit that Zealand has at least a Tresbelli, if not a Melba of its own.
